KDMC - History
Knutsford & District Motor Club (KDMC), founded in 1958, is based at the Kilton Inn, Mere near Knutsford in Cheshire. The membership, currently over 100, is drawn from a radius of about 35 miles around Knutsford, although some members keep in touch from much further afield.

The Club has three premier events, the Tour of Cheshire (historic daylight regularity road rally), the Plains Rally (gravel forest rally in the Welsh forests) and the Knutsford Targa (lower cost introduction to rallying for reduced power cars). Other competitive events run by the Club include autotests, navigational scatter events and production car trials (PCT).

The Club promotes an Off-Road Championship, consisting of autotests, trials including PCTs, sprints and hillclimbs and a Rally Championship consisting of road, stage, multi-use venue and historic rallies. Club members are also active marshalling on major rallies, including Wales Rally GB (formerly RAC and Network Q) and several major national rallies. There is a Marshals' Championship, an All-Rounders' Championship and also a Junior Championship for younger members. Also popular are our Scatter Championship and Grass Autotest Championship.

KDMC also has a comprehensive programme of social and sporting events arranged by the Club's hard-working Committee. Social gatherings include regular meetings on the second Monday night in the month at the Kilton Inn, Mere, Knutsford, where attractions include video and film nights, talks, quizzes, visits, treasure hunts, model car racing and tabletop rallies. The social calendar culminates in the annual awards dinner, where the year's trophies are presented to the various championship winners.

Charities are often the beneficiaries of the Club's activities - examples include the Midlands, North West and Welsh Air Ambulances. Individual Club members include leading national competitors in the field of stage, road and historic rallying and also production car trials and especially autotests. Nevertheless, the Club takes great care to offer events of interest to both expert and novice motor sport enthusiasts alike. Special emphasis is placed on encouraging new members and especially young members with reduced subscription and their own championships and awards. KDMC has a fine record in the championships of the Association of North Western Car Clubs - being winning Club or runner-up many times over the last decade.
