1st Overall - John Ruddock & David Taylor - Car 4

It was good to see David Taylor, HRCR 2011 Champion navigator, setting the pace for 2012 by guiding John Ruddock in the Ford Escort into the winning slot and also winning the Lloyd Watson trophy.
However, the win was by the narrowest margins - one second - from Chas Colton and Guy Woodcock in their 911. I promise the delay in getting the results out was really a computer and clock issue not Guy asking us to recount the time cards umpteen times.

2nd - Charles Colton & Guy Woodcock - Car 7

3rd - Howard Warren & Iain Tullie - Car 1

Unfortunately it was not third time lucky for event sponsor Howard Warren in the 911 who couldn't take the win three times in a row, perhaps the change of navigator was not a wise move.

From the many post event e-mails I've received and remarks to me at the finish it appears the crews (sorry, our customers - in MSA speak!) enjoyed their day out in the Cheshire countryside and the 80 odd miles of regularities and 12 special tests. I'm sorry the weather was not completely dry, but I'm sure the dampness helped some on the tests.

4th - Ian Crammond & Andy Gibson - Car 13

5th - Mike Vokes & Matthew Vokes - Car 2

Our best KDMC crew were the father and son team Mike and Matthew Vokes in their Imp.

Duncan Wild needs a special 'thank you' as well. Not only does he design and organise the special tests, he prints the event paperwork, helps get the equipment there and back, organises the clocks, does PR work (not sure he'll do that again for a while after being bitten by a dog whilst doing Regularity F), prints more paperwork and even provides a replacement course opening car when the Robson MGB's gearbox had a funny turn.

As I'm sure everybody knows events like this do not just happen. Can I thank all my organising team, especially wife Lorna (Secretary of the Meeting), Duncan Wild (Chief Test Marshal), Peter Boyce (Chief Road Marshal) and Rally consultants Nigel Raeburn and Don Barrow. Without their efforts, and support of many others (too many to mention individually I am afraid) this event would not be possible.

Peter Boyce thought his crafty move to Kent would get him out of being Chief Marshal - well that didn't work did it Peter! He didn't really understand my comments in last year's after event bulletin 'It was suggested that there was no reason for you (Peter) to stand down as our Chief Marshal with Email and Google Earth the job could be done from anywhere (including Kent) - an interesting thought!' Thankfully Peter didn't see it as a problem - isn't the interweb a great idea.

I would also like to thank members of KMDC and other local motor clubs together with our band of regular helpers who all did 'their bit' during the Tour of Cheshire.

Also my thanks to competitors, marshals and organisers for supporting the North West Air Ambulance through the donations made and raffle tickets bought. The proceeds of these saw the funds raised during the event total £1,500.

The ToC 'banner' now goes away for another year, but the thoughts for 2013 (our 10th event) have already started. Duncan and I have already been out and about looking at new things for that event. See you then, if not before.

Mike Harrison - 7th March 2012

The 2009 DVD is very educational where it clearly shows the Drivers who did not read the 'Code of Practice' instructions about driving the Regularity sections - See button below.

Watch the DVD and learn by their mistakes.
By not obeying the correct lines at junctions they did not record the correct mileage, therefore they could not be 'Spot On' with their timing - Wrong distance equals a wrong time.
