| Since inception in 2004 the Tour of Cheshire has involved members of Ecurie Cod Fillet in the organisation, marshalling and social aspects of the event.
This unique band of rallying enthusiasts was formed in 1955 by the successful crew of Roy Fidler (King Cod) and the late John Hopwood, originally as a name for team entries in the "Motoring News" championship events and other major rallies of that era. The fish connotation came from Roy's business as a fish merchant and it soon became a much sought after honour to be invited to join its ranks. Membership has always been by invitation only - even today there are less than 300, representing a veritable "who's who" of the good old days of British rallying in the 1950's, 1960's and early 1970's. |

Many of these older enthusiasts help us out on the "Tour of Cheshire" which they view as a "mini - reunion" and a great social occasion, affording them the opportunity to mingle with competitors and to be reminded of their wonderful days of rallying in similar vehicles. And by marshalling some of our controls and passage checks they are putting something back into the sport from which they had so much pleasure and recognising what earlier marshals did for them.
Look out for these "codlings" at Rally H.Q. and around our route - slightly older persons sporting filleted - fish badges and ECF name - tags ; they will be pleased to socialise!!

For 2010 the Rally HQ moved to the Wild Boar at Tarporley which allowed more mileage use towards the West of Cheshire. |
| The following year of 2011 also maintained the Wild Boar as the Rally HQ with numerous visits to Beeston Auction for a variety of fairly high speed tests on private land. Low and behold the same crew of Howard and Cath managed to win by a mere 2 seconds (Cath scoring a 'Hat Trick') from the very able crew of Martin Vokes and his son Mathew Vokes in their diminutive 850cc Hillman Imp. |
